I have been a Community Governor since September 2010. We moved into Greenmount in January of that year when my husband became minister at Greenmount United Reformed Church. As I trained as a teacher of 3 – 8year olds and whilst teaching completed a degree in special educational needs I wanted to offer my services as a Governor of the local school. Previous to that I taught full time for 20 years finishing off as Headteacher of an education run 100 part time places Nursery School for 3 and 4 year olds. Then I was the volunteer Youth and Children’s Coordinator for 11 years at our Church and Community Centre at our previous church. As I am very involved in church and community life, being a member of Greenmount Village Community Committee since 2010, I offer a link between the community and school and church and school. I have attended Governor training sessions to update my skills over the years and been involved in several interviews and link Governor roles. I have also attended the majority of school events that Governors have been invited to over the years as I can be flexible during the day.
