Today’s meeting looked at the organisation of the council’s annual fundraising day, which is going to be held in the Summer term. As you are aware, the School Council is raising money to buy a defibrillator for the school and for Bury Cancer Care. Following a suggestion from children in Year 2 to hold a “dress as a famous pop star”, it was agreed that this would be a good idea for the fundraising day and will be combined with a sponsored dance. Further details will follow in the future, but it must be stressed that we don’t expect a lot of expense with the costumes, just one item to identify a pop star !
Following on from a previous suggestion in the class boxes from Year 5, each class has now been given some new books for their class libraries and the discussion we had around this has shown that these new additions have been welcome. Year 5 for example, have a new set of “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”, “Enid Blyton” and “Harry Potter” books. Remember, the School Council can only work on your behalf, if you give us the ideas!
