Greenmount -

a Pathway to Success

Breaktimes and lunchtimes

Each bubble will have separate times and spaces for breaks and lunch.  The bubbles will not mix.  Therefore, the children will not be able to use the hall to eat lunch as they would normally.

In the early stages of the term, school dinners will take the form of packed lunches.  We have been working with Bury Council to improve the options available for packed lunches.  We have widened the sandwich filling choices; there will be a wider variety of bread products (rolls, pitta, wraps, sliced bread etc); a wider range of salad items and “puddings”.

Packed lunches provided by school will include:

  • Sandwiches from a daily choice of: ham, cheese, egg, tuna, chicken, halal chicken, salad
  • A vegetable or salad accompaniment (e.g. cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks etc)
  • A piece of fruit
  • A “pudding” such as a small biscuit, piece of cake, yoghurt, ice cream pot etc
  • Packet of crisps once a week
  • Water

These packed lunches are free for all infant children and for those on free school meals, otherwise they are charged at £2.30 per day.

The larger the number of infant children who take up their free school meal, the better the rate of school funding for 2021-2022.  This ultimately means that more resources can be purchased for the children.

We want to work with parents and carers in evolving our school packed lunch offer, so please do offer suggestions of how these could be improved – we want to get it is as right as we possibly can.

It is our intention to reintroduce cooked meals, perhaps one class per day, as the term progresses.

Whether the children have a packed lunch from school or home, all children will initially eat their lunch in their classroom.  Over lunchtime each class will be supervised by a dedicated midday supervisor.
