Can you believe that it is Friday already? This week has flown by! We hope you have enjoyed your activities this week.
Here are your activities for today …

Play a game of your choice off Phonics Play (Phase 6).
Each Friday for phonics I would like you to focus on the common exception words (I have attached a document containing these words). I will not be setting specific words to focus on instead it is up to you to choose which ones you struggle with and spend some time practicing spelling them. If you are able to spell all of the year 2 words correctly, you might want to start having a little look at some of the year 3 words in preparation for September.
I hope you have enjoyed writing your Catch It story this week. Today I would like you to create a front cover and a blurb for your story.
Your front cover will need a title, name of the author (your name!) and an eye-catching illustration that will make people want to read your story.
The blurb is a short description of the story but remember not to give away key details. It is supposed to make people want to read the book to find out what happens. It might be useful to look at some blurbs from your own stories to get an idea of how to write them.

Today you have got a practical activity – You will be making arrays. For this activity you are going to need some small objects e.g. counters, dry pasta, pebbles etc.
I have attached a sheet full of cards stating the number of columns / rows and repeated addition sums. Cut out all of the cards and then separate them into two piles. Choose a columns / rows card and then make that array using your small objects. Once you have made your array, find the matching repeated addition card and work out the answer by skip counting (counting in 2s, 3s, 5s, 10s). Then, write down the multiplication sum that matches your array and repeated addition. I have attached a word document with a little example of what to do if this explanation is not clear enough.
