Greenmount -

a Pathway to Success

Friday, 24th April

Hi Everyone!

Friday already! Nearly time to let your brains have a rest and relax for the weekend. Hope you’ve all been managing to get outside in the beautiful weather. Today’s Go Noodle dance suggestion … ‘Knicky Knacky Knocky Knoo’ – Enjoy!

Here are your activities for today …

Phonics

Complete ‘phonics flashcards speed trial’ and ‘tricky word trucks’ on the Phonics Play website. Then play ‘Acorn Adventures’  in the Phase 5 section.

Your phoneme to focus on today is a_e. Practice writing a_e. Can you think of any words that contain a_e?  Here is a video to introduce the phoneme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkycxr-joDk

Practise reading and writing the following words that contain the a_e phoneme: maze, name, game, flame, frame, shade, grape, plate. I have attached some flashcards containing a_e words for your to practice reading. Now can you think of a sentence that contains at least 2 of these a_e words?

English

We will be finishing this week with a comprehension activity.

Please find the attached document containing a picture and questions. Remember to discuss the picture first before you start answering any questions. You can either answer the questions verbally or in writing – your choice!

Maths

Warm up –

Count in 2s,5s,10s.

On Fridays in school we usually do our ‘Beat that’ maths quiz – We have attached a sheet for you to give this a go at home if you want to. We will set this each Friday and you can see if you can beat your previous score. You will need to put a timer on for 2 minutes and 30 seconds (if you think you need less time go for it), press go, answer as many questions as you can, then ask an adult to mark them for you – Good luck!

Main Activity –

Today you will be using your work on fact families from yesterday to help you solve addition missing number problems. Please see the attached document giving an explanation of how to approach this with your child then complete the provided worksheet.

Have a lovely weekend! We will speak again on Monday 😊
