Good Morning Year 1,

Here are your activities for today …



Daily recap of ‘phonics flashcards speed trial’ and ‘tricky word trucks’ on the Phonics Play website.

Go to Classroom Secrets Kids > Year 1 > Reading > Vocabulary Year 1 Reading Comprehension Molly on the Moon.

Can you remember the difference between past and present tense? What is a verb? Which rules have we looked at so far for adding -ing and -ed?

Today you will be adding -ing and -ed to verbs that end in an e such as ‘bake’.

Think back to the rule we used when adding -er/-est to words that end in an e. What was the rule?

We drop the e and add -ing/-ed. bake > baked / baking.

Yesterday you planned some ideas for your letter to your new teacher. Today I would like you to write the letter. Think carefully about the following things as I’m sure you want to impress your new teacher:

Finger spaces

Capital letters

Full stops

Conjunctions (and, but, so)

Joined handwriting

Letters on the line


You might want to draw a picture for them too. Remember to send your letter into school once you have written it so that your new teacher can read it and get to know you a little bit.

Main Activity

I hope you enjoyed your practical sharing activity and managed to make links to the division that you were doing.

Today you will be continuing to work on understanding division as sharing but you will be learning how to  make jottings to help you. As we have already covered division briefly in school before, you should be fine to move onto jottings at this stage. As always, if you feel that you need more practice on the practical activity please carry on working on that today.
