Good morning Reception children and parents.  Happy Friday!

Click on ‘resources’ and then access phonic phase 3 and select ‘time challenge’ for a phoneme flashcard activity like the one on Tuesday.   

To practise the sounds learnt so far: 

Play ‘Make a Match’.  

 

 Mrs Balmer’s group please choose week 5 

 

Mrs Carr’s/Mrs Brennan’s choose week 7.  The week 1-5 games are also good for single letter word blending and previously learnt phonemes. 

 

Main activity: 

Today I thought it would be nice to do a little bit of writing following on from your Spring garden walk/window watch.  I have attached a sheet that you could print out and use or you could use your own paper-this could be added to your home -schooling diary. 

 

The children can spell the words ‘I’ ‘can’ and ‘see’.  Other words can be spelt by sounding out and listening to individual sounds-you will find that your child spells phonetically rather than using the correct spellings for new words.  I have attached a phoneme mat for you and your child to refer to, to aid them with their spellings. 

 

Mrs Carr’s/Mrs Brennan’s group:  try to extend your sentences using ‘and’.  Don’t forget to use a capital letter to start your sentences and a full stop to finish them.  Can you use an adjective to describe each thing that you have seen to make your sentences more interesting? 

 

Mrs Balmer’s/Miss Hathaway’s group:  Don’t forget your full stop at the end of each of your sentence ideas and remember those important spaces between each word.  Don’t forget to try to sit your letters on the lines. 

 

Number:

Mrs Carr’s/Mrs Brennan’s group: as per yesterday counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s, number double recall and number bonds to 10 recall. 

 

Mrs Balmer’s/Miss Hathaway’s group: 

Counting 0-20/ 20-0, flashcards recognition for the numbers to 20.  Also, can you say 1 less than each of the flashcard numbers? 

 

Shape Space and Measure: 

For both Mrs Carr’s/Mrs Brennan’s and Mrs Balmer’s/Miss Hathaway’s children today: 

I would like you to make a shop using real life objects.  You could make a teddy shop, a sock shop or even a haircare shop, it’s up to you.  I have attached some labels for you to print off, cut out and use or you could make your own. 

Mrs Carrs/Mrs Brennan’s group could use the 1-20p labels and Mrs Balmer’s the 1-12p labels. 

You will need to either make some paper 1p,2p,5p,10p coins (attached sheet) or use some from your penny jar.  Who will be the shop keeper and who will be the customer?  Make sure your customer pays the correct amount and if they buy two things you will need to add them up to find out how much they need to pay.
