Greenmount -

a Pathway to Success

Friday, 3rd April

Good Morning Year 2,

Happy Friday!

Hope you are all ok and having lots of fun at home!

Here are your activities for today …

Phonics

Go onto the Phonics Play website. You can access this on a tablet using the address  new.phonicsplay.co.uk         username: march20   password: home

Click on phase 5 on the menu that appears at the left hand side of the screen. Practice phonemes and tricky words using ‘phonics flashcards speed trial’ and ‘tricky word trucks’. Then, play a game of your choice.

Please see the 5 common exception words below for you to practice reading, writing and putting into a sentence.

Your words for today are: Mrs, children, after, eye, parents.

English

How did you get on with the riddles yesterday? I imagine you did a fantastic job of them. You have all worked really hard this week on your adjective activities. We will be finishing this week with a comprehension activity.

Please find the attached document containing a picture and questions. Remember to discuss the picture first before you start answering any questions. Once you have answered all the questions about the picture I would like you to write a short story. Your story can either be about what you see happening in the picture, what you think might have happened before or what you think may be about to happen next. Remember to include your full stops and capital letters!

Maths

Warm up –

Practise 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

Play daily ten to speed up your recall.

Here is today’s game idea (optional of course): Have you ever played the game ‘Guess Who’?

Today’s game is similar to Guess Who but a number version. You will need 1 other person to play along with. Both of you need to write some numbers between 0-100 (however many you want depending on how long you want the game to last) on small pieces of paper.

Then take it in turns to describe your number so the other player can guess what number you have. For example, if I was describing the number 36, I might say … It is an even number, it is greater than 30, it has 3 tens and 6 ones.

Main Activity –

Today you will be continuing your work on adding 2 2-digit numbers together. If you feel you need some more work on adding 2 2 digit numbers mentally please carry on with that today. If you are wanting to make up some more sums a good way to do this is by rolling a dice e.g. first roll you get 4, next roll you get 5. So you have 45 + __. Roll the dice again to get your second number. Calculate the answer.

If you feel that you have mastered adding 2 2-digit numbers mentally, I have attached a document containing challenge questions for you to extend your learning. Try to work through these independently as they will be building on the skills that you were learning yesterday.

Hope today’s activities go well and that you have a lovely weekend 😊
