Greenmount -

a Pathway to Success

Monday, 18th May

Hi Year 3,
I hope that you all had a nice weekend and you were able to get out and about for some exercise.  As I have always said, this is just as important as doing the work which I am sending you. It is great to see people learning new skills like cookery (making pies), large design and technology projects in the garden (for example a scale model of Stonehenge in wood) and some art projects.
  • Today for comprehension, I would like you to do some work on penguins.  Penguins are really amazing creatures and I have been lucky enough when visiting the Falkland Islands, to see some different types of penguins (I also discovered how smelly they are!).  I have provided you with some information on different species of penguins.  Use your VIPERS skills to help you answer the questions.
  • This is our last day of revision work on unit and non-unit fractions.  Today we are going to do some reasoning and problem solving work, based on the work we looked at last Thursday and Friday.  Read the questions carefully and then for some questions, explain carefully using your knowledge of these types of fraction.  I have again given you the PowerPoint, in case you want to refresh your memory.
Don't forget to keep your 2,3,4,5,8 and 10 times tables ticking over and also make sure that you are able to show the inverse operation to each fact, for example 4 x 8=32, so 32 divided by 8 is 4.  Also, some of you are now very confident with all of the times tables we have looked at, so if you feel that you are, I would like you to begin to learn your 6, 7 and 9 times tables.
Take care and keep safe!
Over and out.
Mr G
