Good Morning Year 1,
We hope you have had a lovely weekend!
We have set up ‘portfolios’ on Dojo where you can upload pictures of what you have been doing at home. We thought this would be a nice way for us all to keep in touch with each other. You will have received a message through your Dojo account, follow the link and you should be connected. We look forward to seeing what you have been doing!
Here are your activities for today …
Complete ‘phonics flashcards speed trial’ and ‘tricky word trucks’ on the Phonics Play website. Play ‘Reading Robots’ under the phase 5 section.
Your phoneme to focus on today is i_e. Practice writing i_e. Can you think of any words that contain i_e? Here is a video to introduce the phoneme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9JSTYL7vyc
Practice reading and writing the following words that contain i_e: bike, time, line, shine, chime, crime, prize, white. We have attached some flashcards containing i_e words for you to practice reading. Now can you think of a sentence that contains at least 2 of these i_e words?
If we had been in school this week we would have been having a themed week based around the 75th Anniversary of VE day. In KS1 we were going to focus specifically on evacuation so this is what your English activities will be based on for this week.
First of all have a little research or chat with an adult about what VE day actually is (We have attached an information sheet that you might want to read through with your child). Your English activity for today is a research activity. Please see the attached worksheet containing questions to answer about evacuation. Once you have found some answers, present them on a poster. Remember to put a picture of your poster on your Dojo portfolio – We would love to see your work!
Warm up –
Count in 2s, 5s and 10s.
Hit the button.
Main Activity –
Today you will be adding money together. We have provided a worksheet for you to do which covers adding money. We appreciate that levels of understanding will vary between the children so 2 worksheets have been provided. ‘Adding Money – 1’ is slightly easier, ‘Adding Money – 2’ is slightly more challenging. However, with this topic we always feel that the children gain more from doing these activities practically. So please feel free to ignore the worksheet and give your child selections of real coins to add together.
Here is a money game that you can play online - http://resources.hwb.wales.gov.uk/VTC/working_with_coins/eng/Introduction/default.htm . Once you are on the website click on ‘Main session part 1’ and play the game.
VE Day Activity
As it is supposed to be our VE day theme week we will be providing an extra daily activity for you to have a go at. Please don’t feel it needs to be completed, it is just provided as an optional extra😊
Today we have attached a document containing wartime recipes. We are aware that quite a lot of you have been baking and cooking at home so here is an idea to try something a little different. Let us know how you get on!
