Good morning Year 3,
I hope that you are all keeping well. Thank you for the lovely messages which you have sent me about next year. I'm really looking forward to it!
* I had originally planned to do some home learning writing tasks, all to do with the Romans. As I will be teaching you in Year 4, I have changed my plans slightly. We may do some preparation work in a few weeks, but as I have said, I haven't fully decided yet. This week and next, for our writing, we are going to do some work on poetry. As you know from our work already this year, I like poetry and playing around with words. I would like you to have a look at the poem, "Ocean of Dreams" on the PowerPoint, looking carefully at the structure of this poem. The structure is shown on the slide. I would like you to write three more verses to this poem about the sea, for example-
In the ocean of dreams I saw...
Five careful canoeists
Cutting through the towering tide.
Try and play around with and experiment with the language which you use. I have used some
alliteration (words starting with the same letter or sound) for careful and canoeists and towering and tide. Can you get some alliteration into your writing? It would be great if when you have finished your three verses, you try and perform these by reading them out aloud. You could even record these and send them to me on Class Dojo. I would love to hear them!
* We are carrying on with our work on turns and angles and finishing the first part of this. You are going to need to use your knowledge of clockwise and anticlockwise and the language from our work on time, to solve the two problems which I have given you. I have attached the PowerPoint again to help you.
BURY COUNCIL POSTING POSITIVELY
* Bury Council are excited to launch a new project that children and young people across Bury can get involved in! Posting Positivity has been set up by Bury Youth Cabinet in partnership with Bury Grammar School. The idea is that we ask children and young people across the borough to write letters or draw pictures for people who are isolated during the covid-19 pandemic. We will vet the letters and facilitate their delivery via our community hubs and to residential care homes in the hope that we can help people to feel more connected to one another.
Attached is some guidance about what to write as we need to safeguard everyone taking part and must ensure that children and young people don’t include any personal information about themselves. We have made arrangements with Tesco is Prestwich, Bury and Ramsbottom so that letters can be posted into boxes at these locations and we’ll collect them. If people are unable to drop off their letters they can simply photograph them and email them to this address email@example.com (all this information is in the attached document).
If anybody in Year 3 would like to have a go at this, I am happy that this is completed as their weekly writing activity, instead of the writing task that I have given you.
Don't forget to keep your 2,3,4,5,8 and 10 times tables ticking over and also make sure that you are able to show the inverse operation to each fact, for example 4 x 8=32, so 32 divided by 8 is 4. Also, some of you are now very confident with all of the times tables we have looked at, so if you feel that you are, I would like you to begin to learn your 6, 7 and 9 times tables.
Take care and keep safe!
Bye for now!
