Hello Year 3,
I hope that you are all well and I have to say i'm really missing you all. I'm hoping that it won't be too long before I see you all again!
* Today for our writing, we are going to have a go at writing a book review about "Stig of the Dump". A book review is when you write about the things that you have liked in a story, as well as the parts you didn't like or could have been changed to make these better. On the attached sheet I have given you some questions to answer. Have a go at using these as sub-headings, something which we have looked at a lot this year and try to get some of your great vocabulary and grammar in.
* We are continuing to look at subtracting fractions. Remember, at this stage we are concentrating on fractions which have the same denominator (bottom number), meaning that all we need to do is add together the numerators (top number). Today we are going to focus more on reasoning and problem solving, so for some of the questions you are going to need to explain your answers, based on the work we did yesterday. I would like everybody to start with the first sheet. The last sheet is very challenging, as the denominators are also different. If you can do, give this a go and lets see who can remember how we add fractions with different denominators! I have attached a PowerPoint which you may find helpful.
Don't forget to keep your 2,3,4,5,8 and 10 times tables ticking over and also make sure that you are able to show the inverse operation to each fact, for example 4 x 8=32, so 32 divided by 8 is 4. Also, some of you are now very confident with all of the times tables we have looked at, so if you feel that you are, I would like you to begin to learn your 6, 7 and 9 times tables.
