Good morning Year 3,
I hope that everybody is well and keeping up the excellent work which you are doing.
* Today for our SPaG work, I would like you to do some work on commas in lists. Although this is quite easy, I noticed that before school closed, some of you were forgetting the correct position of the commas when writing a list, for example I ate cheese, pickles, ham and cucumber. Some children were adding a comma before the and. The work this week will act as a refresher on this!
* We are now going to start some work on fractions. We are doing this as fractions can be a little tricky and we would have been going over this again in class. We are going back to look at making a whole, as this was the first thing that we looked at back in January. Look carefully at the fraction drawings and the fractions themselves. If we had 3 sections of a four section shape coloured in, then the fraction would be 3/4. If we had 4/7, we would then need 3/7 more to make a whole (the total of the numerators needs t add up to the denominator). A lot of you will be confident with this, so you can start with the second sheet.
Don't forget to keep your 2,3,4,5,8 and 10 times tables ticking over and also make sure that you are able to show the inverse operation to each fact, for example 4 x 8=32, so 32 divided by 8 is 4. Also, some of you are now very confident with all of the times tables we have looked at, so if you feel that you are, I would like you to begin to learn your 6, 7 and 9 times tables.
I will see you all soon.
Bye for now.
