Greenmount -

a Pathway to Success

Tuesday, 28th April

Hi Everybody!

Here are your activities for today …

Phonics

Complete ‘phonics flashcards speed trial’ and ‘tricky word trucks’ on the Phonics Play website. Then play ‘Picnic on Pluto’ in the Phase 5 section.

Your phoneme to focus on today is ee. Practice writing ee. Can you think of any words that contain ee?  Here is a video to introduce the phoneme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfM7Hz7US0U

Practice reading and writing the following words that contain the ee phoneme: meet, feet, sheet, sheep, queen, green, cheek . We have attached some flashcards containing ee words for you to practice reading. Now can you think of a sentence that contains at least 2 of these ee words?

English

Today we would like you to apply your knowledge of question marks to a piece of writing. Often when we learn about question marks we are very good at knowing when/how to use them in a focused activity like you did yesterday, however when it comes to a piece of writing we often forget to include them. So today we would like you to write a letter. You could write the letter to someone in your family, a friend, an author, a book character or anyone you want. In your letter we would like you to include 5 questions. You must try to punctuate these questions correctly. Enjoy and remember to ask interesting questions!

Maths

Warm up –

Count in 2s,5s,10s.

Number double recall – you can either do this using hit the button/daily ten or play the following game. Number double game – You will need the numbers 0-10 on the floor (you could write these on a big piece of paper or use chalk to write them straight on to the floor – entirely up to you). Throw a ball on to the numbers. Whichever number it lands on you must say the number double as quick as you can. For example, if the ball lands on 6 you would say ‘double 6 is 12’. Can you get them all correct first time?

Main Activity –

Hope the missing number problems have been going well so far. Today you will look at the final type of addition/subtraction missing number problem. Please see the attached document giving an explanation of how to solve these problems then complete the provided worksheet.
