Greenmount -

a Pathway to Success

Tuesday, 7th July

Hello Year 3,

How is everyone today?  I hope that you quickly got to grips with the work on mass yesterday.  It should be pretty easy to pick up.

  *   Today for SPaG, we are going to be continuing with our work on prepositions, this time looking at prepositional phrases.  A phrase is a group of words together.  Prepositional phrases include a preposition and an object.  For example, by the chair is a prepositional phrase, because it includes a preposition (by) and an object (chair).  On my desk is a prepositional phrase, because it includes a preposition (on) and an object (desk). Have a go at the attached sheet and today I would like everybody to start with the first sheet to get you used to this.  I have attached a PowerPoint to help you.

  *   We are continuing to look at mass.  Mass is all to do with how much an object weighs.  We measure mass in grams (g) and kilograms (kg) and 1000g=1kg, so 2000g=2kg etc.  Today I would like you to use your knowledge from the work which you did yesterday and try to answer the problems, which will again ask you to read the scales carefully.  You may also need to make use of some of your mental strategies. I have attached the PowerPoint from yesterday to help you.

Don't forget to keep your 2,3,4,5,8 and 10 times tables ticking over and also make sure that you are able to show the inverse operation to each fact, for example 4 x 8=32, so 32 divided by 8 is 4.  Also, some of you are now very confident with all of the times tables we have looked at, so if you feel that you are, I would like you to begin to learn your 6, 7 and 9 times tables.

Take care and keep safe.

Bye for now.

Mr G
