Good Morning Year 2!



Throughout the week, if you can, go onto Phonics Play and access the Speed Trial game for phonemes, digraphs and trigraphs up to Phase 5 - remember the alternative sounds if they have them.

For example - ou can make the sound ou for shout, ou for could.  Also play the Tricky Word Truck game to help you with reading and spelling all words up to Phase 5.  Challenge yourself to beat your time each day.



Today we want you to continue with your research of the world area for your class.


During my research yesterday I was amazed to find out that there are more than one type of rainforest and that deserts are not just hot, sandy and dry places!

Main Activity =

We will now be shifting our focus to time facts / telling the time. We did quite a lot of work on this in school so try to remember everything that you have already learnt.

Today we will be starting by recapping on time facts. See if you can answer the following questions: How many seconds are in 1 minute? How many minutes are in 1 hour? How many hours are in a day? How many days are in a week? How many days are in 2 weeks? How many weeks are in a year? How many days are in a year? How many months are in a year?

If you can’t answer any of these questions – use the internet to research the answer.

For today’s activity we have attached jumbled up flashcards of the days of the week and months of the year for you to cut out and put in the correct order independently. Once you have done this practice spelling the words. There are also different times for you to order from shortest to longest amount of time. Remember to post a picture of your work on your portfolio.

If you feel that this is too easy we have attached a challenge sheet for you to have a go at. This is quite tricky so please only complete it if you feel your child’s understanding of time is up to that level (we don’t want to knock their confidence).
