Spring Term First Half
Building on our geographical study of our village in the topic “Marvellous Magical Me”, in this topic the children development their understanding of geography settlements looking at the similarities and difference between villages, towns and cities.
The children focus on the cities of Manchester (local study) and London, again focussing on similarities and differences.
Looking at Manchester, in History, the children focus on the historical figure of Emeline Pankhurst and the growth of the suffragette movement ensuring “votes for women”. In London, the children learn about the causes and effects of the Great Fire of London, learning facts about this significant historical event.
In Design Technology, the Year 1 children demonstrate their understanding of a city by building one, creating their own building structures. The Year 2 children design and create the vehicles to find their way through the city.
