Our allocation for the year 2022 - 2023 = £2,000
Phonics in Reception and Year 1 has been most severely affected by the pandemic.
Our Y1 Phonics results in 2021 and 2022 were lower than ever before.
We have therefore decided to purchase one of the DfE's Validated Synthetic Phonics Programmes "Little Wandle Letters and Sounds".
The Catch-Up Premium (together with £1,000 from Pupil Premium and £2,000 from our PTA) will enable us to afford:
* Little Wandle physical resources for lessons and classrooms (flash cards, posters)
* Little Wandle subscription to provide planning, assessment and CPD resources
* Collins Big Cat fully decodable reading books for Reception and Year 1
The impact of this funding will be measured through the children's progress in Phonics and in particular, performance in the Year 1 Phonics Check and the Reception Early Learning Goal "Word Reading" in Summer 2023.
