Greenmount -

a Pathway to Success

Lisa Mackenzie

Greenmount is a fantastic primary school and a community I’m proud to be part of. I am a parent to three girls – Lily who recently left Greenmount and is now in Year 7 at Woodhey, Ruby who is in Year 3 at Millwood Special Needs School, and Ava who is in Year 1 here at Greenmount Primary.

I have been an Associate Member of the governing body since May 2017 and am the SEN lead, a role which I am passionate about. Having a child with additional needs myself, I have a great understanding and empathy with the challenges that come with it! I am proud that Greenmount has such good SEND provision and all governors ensure that school consistently looks into doing its utmost best for all individual pupils with SEND.

As well as being the SEN lead governor, I also sit on the Pupils and Curriculum committee where we monitor curriculum provision and attainment and achievement of all groups of children, ensuring that every individual child fulfils their potential. I have also been involved in interviewing for a new member of staff and showing prospective new parents around school on open days.

My background includes working for 15 years within the pharmaceutical industry where key aspects of my role were business planning and budgeting as well as questioning, listening and working cohesively as a team - all skills which are regularly used within governing body meetings.
